The Vancouver Island Safety Conference is a one day free event, and takes place at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre (101 Gordon St., Nanaimo, BC) on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Doors open for registration at 7:30am, with sessions running from 8:30am to 3:30pm.

Hosted by BC Forest Safety, the Vancouver Island Safety Conference is one of British Columbia's leading safety events for the forestry sector and the industries connected to it. Organized by the BC Forest Safety Council, it brings together the people, ideas, and solutions that keep BC's workers safe.

Why This Conference Matters to Us
Struck-by incidents involving mobile equipment are among the most serious risks in BC's forestry and heavy industrial sectors. Operators working around log handlers, excavators, loaders, and heavy duty forklifts face blind zones that no mirror or spotter can always fully cover. When conditions are loud, dusty, or fast-moving, it can be difficult to maintain awareness of workers around mobile equipment.
SCAN~LINK's passive RFID Armour System adds another layer of awareness by detecting tagged workers around mobile equipment and alerting both operators and workers when they enter a defined danger zone.
Our system can detect tagged workers specifically rather than objects or debris. Passive RFID tags live in the safety PPE your crews already wear, with no batteries to charge or maintain. When a tagged worker enters a configured danger zone, the operator gets a clear in-cab alert and the worker receives an external warning. Every detection is automatically logged with time, date, and tag ID.
